Robotic Hats

Dear Bloggers,

Years 6/5 L and W are designing and making robotic hats.

Here is a video of the Robotic hat parade.

Below is a table to show the criteria required to have a high standard model and program.  Peer and self assessment is carried out along the way so the students can give and receive quality feedback.  Students also know what they are working towards.

not yet Sound High
Hat is comfortable and fits well around the head.
Hat frame on your head, without an NXT, is sturdy and does not fall off
Robot NXT is securely attached to the hat.

Do the gentle shake test

The hat on your head, with the NXT attached, does not fall off.
The hat has 2 moveable arms. These must use motors.
The program codes for remote control touch sensors.
Add sounds and displays to your robot.
Add sunglasses and visas. These must not be solid
Add an ultrasonic sensor to your hat.
Program your ultrasonic sensor to detect movement and carry out a special action

Here are some pictures taken along the way.
